Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden
Located at 8617 Garland Road, on the eastern shores of White Rock Lake, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden can be found blooming all year round.

The 66 acres of blooming flower beds, green pasture and verdant trees are a welcome sight away from the bustle of city life. Among the plants and horticulture, there are 2,400 types of azaleas, including the Huang Collection specimens not available outside China.

The DeGolyer Mansion, a lovely Spanish-style property owned by Texas oil baron Everett DeGolyer is also located on this facility. Around Christmas, the 21,000-square-foot house can be seen beautifully decorated. The series of gardens and fountains that compose the arboretum give it its peaceful feel. It's a great place for a family picnic and you can find special events and festivals here. The outdoor concert stage is used for performances, while the truly beautiful setting serves as a great backdrop for weddings.

Later if you want you can visit Tenison Park two miles away and Fair Park, less than four miles away. Of all the many hotels in the neighborhood, La Quinta Dallas East I-30 is the nearest nice hotel to the park. Guests like the free parking, free breakfast and broadband Internet access. The Howard Johnson Express Inn is located between Mesquite and Downtown Dallas. Modern comforts, outdoor pool and free breakfast are a nice reason to stay here.
