Dallas Zoo
Located south of Downtown Dallas in Oak Cliff, Dallas Zoo spans over 95 acres. The largest zoo in Texas is home to more than 8,000 animals representing some 380 types of species. The zoo was opened in 1888 and shows off the tallest statue in Texas, a 67.5-foot-high bronze giraffe. The statue stands near the entrance to greet the guests. Also managed by the zoo is the Dallas Aquarium.

The DART station right outside the zoo makes it a very convenient place to visit. The zoo has two parts the old and the new, the Zoo North and Wilds of Africa. Native African animals can be found at Wilds of Africa. You can take the walking trail or the monorail for animal viewing. Zoo North features all other animals apart from African. See the tiger habitats and feed the colorful birds. The children's area features a Discovery House that keeps them busy with puzzles and other activities.

Famous neighbors to Dallas Zoo include Reunion Tower, Old Red Courthouse and Old Red Museum, Dallas City Hall and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. Those who like hot and spicy food can stop by Veracruz Cafe (214-948-4746) to try the mouth-watering burritos and fajitas.

At the Hotel Lawrence, the hotel manager will send a personalize letter welcoming your little dog apart from other treats and gifts. You can have free continental breakfast at this European boutique-style hotel. Those who stay at The Adolphus-A Noble House Hotel can enjoy the true colors of Downtown. Top Dallas attractions and high class shopping, dining and nightlife destinations are easily accessible.
