The park is home to a significant number of art deco buildings and structures. Enter from Parry St., see the well restored Women's Museum and the theater once a General Motor pavilion. Make sure to check out the Texas Hall of State, which is adorned by art deco-style murals.
The park has plenty of scenic paths and hold outdoor events throughout the year. Visit the Discovery Gardens, a 7.5-acre display of native and adapted plants. Every year starting mid-September to mid-October the park is home to the popular mega-event of Dallas, the annual Texas State Fair. The event gets a turnover of more than 3 million people per annum.
After Fair Park you can go and have a look at the African American Museum, and Museum of Nature & Science both a 10 minutes walk away. For hot enchiladas and burritos go to Monica's Aca Y Alla (214-748-7140). Bar of Soap nearby has pool tables and cold beer apart from pub grub you may want to enjoy.
At 400 N. Olive St., the Adam's Mark Hotel Dallas is a great hotel for the business traveler. On-site dining options and various activities are a plus point here. Step out the hotel door and step into the DART light rail for some exploring around. Leisure travelers can check into The Westin City Center, located near the West End which is speckled with various nightlife venues.
