The Cotton Bowl opened in 1932 as the Fair Park Bowl, located in Fair Park. The stadium was once home to the Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas and the SMU Mustangs. It can seat 68,252 fans, though during concerts and other special events 82,000 can be seated.

Cotton Bowl hosts Cotton Bowl Classic college football, a long-established New Year's Day American football game and its named after it. However in 2010, the game will move to Dallas Cowboys new stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The stadium has served as home to Cotton Bowl Classic since 1937. Teams from two top college leagues: the SEC champion plays a top team from the Big 12. The tickets are hard to get and you will have to book way ahead of time. Before the big day, Dallas organizations take out a New Year's Eve parade and have a marching band contest to entertain the holiday crowds. This parade is a must see affair.
