Prairie Dog Chili Cookoff - Dallas Hotels .com

It is time to enter the World Championship of Pickled Quail Egg Eating, a staple at the Prairie Dog Chili Cookoff. The event started in 1975 and celebrates the old Texas tradition and the states official dish - chili. Dozens of chili cooks from Texas and neighboring states enter competitions, while the judges decide a winner.

Wacky chili and team names, creative costumes, and intricate cooking sites ensure a fantastic time for all. This chili cook-off is great fun for families and friends and is a must-see event for all. Cooks from 8 to 18 years of age try their skills in the Junior Division cook-off, while the adults warm up for the big chili competition. This event is free to attend. Judges go around tasting Chili, to evaluate the grand prize winner.
