Dallas and Fort Worth are 30 miles apart, and they are usually termed as the Metroplex, along with their small neighborhoods. The warm climate of Dallas has served as a great draw to people and businesses from cold regions. The weather in Dallas/Fort Worth is warm throughout the year. Some winter days can be as warm as 67 degrees Fahrenheit (19 degrees Celsius). Summers are very hot and in spring when rainfall is heaviest you may get to see lightning storms and hail too. Floods and tornadoes can also rarely occur. May gets the most rainfall, with July and August as hottest months and Jan as coolest.
Dallas has a lot of man-made lakes. Within a 100-mile radius you will find more than 60 lakes and over 50,000 acres of public parkland. The southern climate allows locals to indulge in an array of year-round outdoor activities the most popular being water sports, jogging, hiking and golf.
It's a good idea to get a map of Dallas and plan your daily itinerary before you get there.
In case you forget to take a map along, just go to the Visitors Information Centre in the Old Red Courthouse (100 S Houston St.) in dDowntown and get one. Nearby, you can check out the Sixth Floor Museum, John F. Kennedy Memorial, Pioneer Plaza and Reunion Tower.

While you are there visit the popular Neiman Marcus on Main Street and Highland Park Village, America's oldest shopping center. Here you can come across a swanky crowd of shoppers. While on your way, look around and enjoy the magnificent houses in the neighborhood, all pompous and pristine.
Those who use Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) to get around Dallas should carry exact change. A single ride costs $1.50 and can be as high as $2.50 for a longer ride. It's a good idea to get a day-pass which can range from $3 to $5 and if you have time, head out to Fort Worth for a feel of the West. You can't take the regular DART train to Fort Worth, but you can take the Trinity Railway Express for $2.75 straight from Dallas to Fort Worth. It will take 45 minutes to get there.
When you take the buses and the light rail make sure you get to the departure point on time; carry proper change, a route map, and get off at the right point.
